Queens singer-songwriter Yaya Bey announces her signing to drink sum wtr with "merlot and grigio", a nod to the soca stylings of her family’s Barbadian roots. Perhaps the purest point on the carefree end of Yaya’s critically acclaimed (Pitchfork, NPR, The Guardian) catalog, the track features Barbadian artist Father Philis, who dropped his ad-libs over a vibrant, hooky rhythmic bed produced by Yaya. “We're so excited about it; it's cool to bridge that gap, you know, throughout the diaspora, that Caribbean and American bridge. It's a real soca record, like my aunt Wendy would play this." The first glimpse of a yet-to-be-announced 2025 project.
