Collection: Yaya Bey
Queens singer-songwriter Yaya Bey announces her signing to drink sum wtr with "merlot and grigio," a nod to the soca stylings of her family’s Barbadian roots. Pulling from R&B, hip-hop, jazz, soul, and dance music with “singular grace and flair,” says Pitchfork, Yaya has performed at stages big and small, from NPR’s Tiny Desk to Glastonbury. The first glimpse of the next chapter for Yaya, and perhaps the purest point on the carefree end of her critically acclaimed catalog, "merlot and grigio" features Barbadian artist Father Philis, who dropped his ad-libs over a vibrant, hooky rhythmic bed produced by Yaya. “We're so excited about it; it's cool to bridge that gap, you know, throughout the diaspora, that Caribbean and American bridge. It's a real soca record, like my aunt Wendy would play this."
